Howard Yezerski Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of drawings and painting on paper by Arnold Trachtman. Born in 1930 and too young to have fought in World War II, the event never the less ended up being a seminal experience for him. Since 1985 after graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago with a Masters degree in painting Tractman has consistently made paintings that address social and political themes. Combining a formal knowledge and love of painting and art history, with a sense of outrage at gross misuses of authority in government he has over the years made paintings that are passionate and powerful.

In this exhibition, which consists of small pencil portraits of people from the Bush administration, Trachtman has lowered his voice but not his sense of outrage. Of Our Time is a quiet but powerful statement of a here and now that we have, as Americans been living through for the last five years.
