John Powell and James Tellin

Between Form and Color
July 9 - August 20, 2010

opening reception: Friday, July 9th 6 - 8pm

Howard Yezerski Gallery is pleased to announce Between Form and Color a sculpture installation by John Powell and James Tellin opening Friday, July 9th.

John Powell internationally known for his architectural lighting of buildings and bridges, brings his work inside for this exhibition. In this elegant installation Powell lights simple metal objects on the wall using color. The materiality of the metal combined with the painterly like shadow on the wall create a wonderful confluence of material and light.

James Tellin has been working with wood since the early nineties. Coming out of sculpture and painting his work has consistently dealt with form and color. In this landscape table series he continues this exploration, with a twist, introducing function to the work. Combining elements from sculpture, art furniture and landscape painting Tellin allows us another way of looking at these three disciplines.
